Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2019-2027, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Oct 2019
The 2017 Lirac Baron Louis is a charming, elegant offering, redolent of cherries and vanilla. It's medium to full-bodied, with modest herbal overtones, supple tannins and a creamy-textured feel in the mouth. After most of the blend is aged a year in barriques, it goes back into tank for a year prior to bottling, hence the score range. It will remain in bottle a year prior to sale, so this is a late-2020 release to keep an eye out for.
