The 2021 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has a bit of reduction on the nose, though there is complexity behind that veil and more mineralité as it opens in the glass. The palate is vibrant and engaging, very well balanced with just a hint of dried honey, though it retains poise and tension. Hints of orange pith and lemongrass furnish the finish. This is very promising. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has an aromatic nose with white peach and light honeysuckle scents, well-defined with a touch of dried honey. The palate is well-balanced with quite a rich core of citrus fruit, layered and generous towards the finish. Delicious.
The 2021 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons is also a strong performer this year, wafting from the glass with aromas of orange zest, lemon oil, clear honey, white flowers and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, pretty and perfumed, with tangy acids and a saline finish, it will offer a broad drinking window.
