Tasting notes
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru offers dark berry fruit on the nose, touches of pressed iris petals, flint and light truffle aromas. A little surly at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine balance, gentle build in the mouth with a precise, quite saline finish. Very fine mineralite here, this is a superb Aux Brûlées.

Étienne Grivot suggested this is interchangeable in quality and intensity with the Boudots, to my questioning why this might be served after the Boudots – very Nuits for a Vosne, and the Boudots very Vosne for a Nuits. Cask sample. Deep ruby; powerful intensity in the perfumed, dark-berried fruit. Persistent with great length. Concentrated, fine. (MH)
A highly spiced blend features notes of red and black currant, raspberry and a plethora of floral nuances along with hints of exotic tea. The relatively forward and unusually supple middle weight flavors are notably less concentrated and powerful though markedly finer and more sophisticated on the youthfully austere and lingering finale that tightens up noticeably. This needs to add depth with time in bottle. (91-93)/2032+
