Tasting notes
Leading off the 2020 reds, the 2020 Rasteau Vieilles Vignes has a ripe, medium to full-bodied, mouth-filling style as well as outstanding aromatics of black cherries, mulberries, toasted spices, and garrigue. It's a ripe, textured, textbook Rasteau to enjoy over the coming decade.

70% 80-year-old Grenache, 20% 40-year-old Mourvèdre, 10% 80-year-old Syrah on limestone-clay slopes and blue and yellow clay soils. One-third whole bunch. Released ‘before summer 2022 ’ . Cask sample. Dark purplish crimson. Very complex nose that has a certain ‘coolness’ to it (the limestone perhaps … and/or the whole bunch?). Round with polished tannins and spiciness lurking underneath. Very ‘digestible’. I’d love to find this on a restaurant wine list. Extremely bright fruit with real charm. A saline hint on the end – plus a little heat, it has to be said, despite that initial cool impression. (JR)
