Tasting notes
Looking back at our note for the 2020, this wine was all about blue and purple fruit – this year it’s firmly in the red-fruit camp, but shares the fulsome, sensual profile. Beautifully layered, this is a wine of luscious, bright cherry purity – over which notes of parma violets and rose waft. Long and mouth-watering, with a moreish pepper spice. Incredible.

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaumonts 1er Cru has a detailed bouquet with open red berry fruit, crushed stone and rose petal. Lovely mineralité here - very expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins, quite saline, a little earthiness toward the finish with moderate length. Very fine.
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts is another success, exhibiting aromas of strawberries, licorice, orange oil and sweet forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with an impressively layered core of fruit, melting tannins and a saline finish, it's a strong effort.
Here the expressive nose is spicier but not more elegant with its combination of exotic tea, orange peel and star anise aromas. The vibrant medium weight flavors are also super-sleek with a caressing, but punchy mouthfeel while exuding evident minerality on the clean, moderate austere and linear finale. This isn’t seductive but it is both stylish and classy.
