Score 90/100 · Drink 1994-1999, Robert Parker, Oct 1992
The 1989 Gigondas offers a precocious, evolved nose of black fruits, cedar, Provencal herbs, and damp earth. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with a deep, unctuous, chewy texture, and a splendid ripe, heady, supple finish. I suspect the 1990 will live longer, and may ultimately prove to be the superior wine, but for drinking over the next 5-7 years, the 1989 enjoys a slight edge.
