Tasting notes
Blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre from the Plateau de Mont Redon, Les Bédines, La Crau, Cabrières and Pignan. Aged for 10 months in one- and two-year-old barrels and then foudre. 50% whole bunch. Cask sample. Pale to mid crimson. Salty-savoury nose that suggests the wine is relatively approachable – though the finish is pretty unyielding and drying. Fairly mild for a wine of this appellation and certainly well balanced for a gentle Grenache-dominated future. Not quite as luscious as the Gigondas Vieilles Vignes but it should have quite a long life. (JR)

There are four Châteauneuf du Pape. Starting with the base 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape, it offers a deep ruby/purple color and terrific black raspberry fruits as well as notes of peppery herbs, candied flowers, and assorted spice. It's rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and has a great finish. It's clearly an outstanding, high quality wine I'd be happy to drink.
