Score 88/100 · Drink 2020-2027, Neal Martin, Sep 2020

The 2018 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru, from 25-year-old vines and aged in stainless steel vat and wood, has a slightly more floral bouquet than the Vaillons, featuring honeysuckle, pressed yellow flowers and tropical scents of passion fruit and pineapple. The palate is rounded and honeyed in texture, quite rich and generous, with the tropical notes continuing (passion fruit and guava). The problem is that it feels a little generic on the finish and does not exude the terroir of Chablis.
