From vines in Comblanchien. Vines more than 65 years old, no new oak. Tank sample. Fragrant but clearly quite concentrated fruit. Very big and bumptious and sweet. Yet there is quite a charge of tannin too. Pretty ambitious for this appellation. (JR)

The 2019 Côte de Nuits-Villages comes from vines over 60 years old and was completely destemmed. It offers a mixture of red and black fruit, plus a hint of cassis emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a little chewy in texture, with a touch of brininess toward the finish. Fine. A broad-shouldered Côte de Nuits-Villages.
