Tasting notes
The 1962 Rivesaltes was also taken from demi-muid. It has a sweet nose of marmalade, fig jam, boysenberry and burnt honey, although it feels just a little smudged at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied and sags a little in the middle. Touches of marmalade and fig furnish the finish, concluding a satisfactory rather than superlative Rivesaltes that cuts away a little briskly for my liking. Drink now-2020.

Cask sample. Mahogany with an orange rim. Rather sweet and syrupy – without the freshness of some on the nose but wonderful richness of fruit on the palate. Rather tough and soupy at the moment. Slighlty bitter finish. (JR)
