The 2018 Cinsault Ringmuur is partly whole-bunch-fermented and aged in 500-liter barrels only (no foudres ). Deeper and slightly more limpid in color than the Ramnasgras, it has a light morello cherry and pressed rose petal bouquet. The smooth-textured palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, offering white pepper, cloves and hints of tobacco toward the very harmonious and satisfying finish. Recommended.

The 2018 Ringmuur Cinsault delivers an honest expression of Cinsault with a red-fruited core and a dusty expression that is somewhat complex. It feels like it is wanting to be bigger than it is. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, showing cherry, strawberry and dusty red plum and ends with lingering tannins on the medium finish.

Tiny vineyard. Carbonic maceration. Pale cherry red. Red fruit, orange peel. Very unusual wine: light bodied, easy to overlook for its delicacy but it has great persistence and real character. An individual of a wine and lots of fine-boned pleasure. (JH)
