Tasting notes
The golden-colored 2006 Ried Vom Stein Riesling Smaragd is deep, intense and saline on the flinty and nuanced nose that shows stewed stone fruit or confiture aromas and, with aeration, savory flinty and also tannin notes. It gains in precision with air. On the palate, this is a tight, fresh and savory, saline and grippy Riesling that is vital yet a little overloaded compared to the corresponding Federspiel. The wine is frisky and tight at the same time yet doesn't have the energy of the Federspiel. The wine is quite matured from this bottle. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Archive Release 2024. Tasted in January 2025.

Strong zesty apple, mineral, open and layered palate with ginger, spice, petrol and smooth mouthfeel. Great potential for development. (RH)
