Lamy's 2010 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chatenière opens in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, crisp green apple and fresh bread, with hints of candied tropical fruit and barley sugar emerging with extended aeration. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, it's beautifully pure and mineral-driven, with a racy but ripe spine of acidity and a long, delicately exotic finish. Make no mistake, this is still a young wine, and it showed more of its cards when I finished the bottle a day later than it did immediately after opening.

(from 50-year-old vines on a steep slope): White peach and flowers on the nose. Juicy and gripping, with penetrating acidity and a strong crushed stone quality energizing the flavors of pear and hawthorn. With a bit of air, this showed a creamier middle-palate texture but the sweet, silky, very long finish displays terrific verve. Should give pleasure early and late.

The 2010 St. Aubin Clos de La Chatenière, from a south facing site, is dazzling. Layers of ripe, juicy fruit burst from the glass, followed by expressive floral and spiced notes and finishing with gorgeous underlying minerality. Layers of fruit continue to build all the way through to the textured, creamy finish. This is a wonderfully complete wine. In 2010, the Clos de La Chatenière is a rockstar.

Orange oil and a bit of sweet oak on the nose. Dense, thick and concentrated but with good energy. Clearly a wine from a sunny site. Finishes tactile and quite dry, with a lightly mentholated quality. Showing less personality today than the Remilly but long on the aftertaste.
