Score 92/100 · Drink 2024-2034, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2024

Composed of 54% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay exclusively from six Grand and Premier Cru villages in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, the 2012 Champagne Millésime Brut offers a more complete and focused picture in the range. In the glass, it displays a medium yellow/gold color and reveals aromas of baked peach, brioche, grapefruit, and toasted almond. The palate offers a graceful feel, with a fine mousse, a supple, stony texture, and even acidity. While it’s not as assertive as some of the other wines in the range, it boasts a more nuanced and finessed feel and should offer some longevity over the coming 8-10 years. It saw the addition of 6 grams per liter dosage. Drink 2024-2034.

With the 2012 Brut Millésimé, Henriot's positive evolution begins to become apparent. A blend of 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir, disgorged with less than six grams per liter dosage, it offers up aromas of citrus zest, white flowers, freshly baked bread and green apple, followed by a medium-bodied, brisk and precise palate. Built around a bright spine of acidity and enlivened by a pillowy mousse, it will take on additional depth and dimension with a few years on cork.

54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir. Six premiers and grands crus: Trépail, Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay, Avenay in Montagne de Reims, and Avize and Chouilly in the Côtes des Blancs. At least 8 years of ageing on lees. Dosage 6 g/l. Disgorged 2021. Henriot write in their tech sheet: 'Although 2012 started as one of the most worrying years, it ended up being ideal. Episodes of frost, hail and heavy rain occurred in the vineyard during the first months of the year. The weather eventually turned out to be favourable until harvest, with a series of heatwaves, which ultimately led to good development of the vegetation and the ripening of grapes.' Very pale gold, plenty of lively mousse on pouring. Intense, rich and inviting toasty aroma, deep and yeasty with ripe lemon and clementine freshness of fruit. Terrific combination of intensity and freshness on the palate, the marked autolytic character giving an impression of sweetness even though it tastes dry. Toasty on the palate and there's still lovely citrus fruit at the core. Fine mousse, vibrant freshness through the deep and long flavours. (JH)

A fragrant nose with aromas of apples, pears, brioche and candied citrus. Round, silky and balanced with fine bubbles and a flavorful, minerally finish. Full-bodied with a creamy texture and wonderfully soft fruit. Highlights the balance of the 2012 vintage. A blend of 54% chardonnay and 46% pinot noir. Drink or hold.
