They own 3.36 ha of this walled vineyard on terraces above dense clay soil that performs well in drought conditions such as in 2020. Weber says it's always very approachable. 30% whole bunch. 13-day maceration. 20–25% new oak. Allier (preferred for 2020 to give sucrosity and round tannin). Never racked. Pale crimson. Light nose with a fine, lightly bitter streak running through delightfully, almost sweet, fruit. Really beautifully full of pleasure. Maybe the acid is a bit low so best to drink fairly young? (JR)

Aromas of cherries, cassis, licorice and rose petals introduce Bouchard's 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de la Mousse, a medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine that's lively and seamless, with a fleshy core of fruit and a long, perfumed finish.

The 2020 Beaune Clos de la Mousse 1er Cru, a monopole on dense clay soils, offers dark chocolate infused red fruit on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with grain tannins, slightly tarry in style with that dark chocolate resurfacing towards the chalky-textured finish. Fine.

Like the Savigny Lavires, Clos de la Mousse is another spot with cooler clays. Very dense purple. Some plums on the nose, a little rounder, with good acidity behind, more red fruit notes emerge beneath. This shows considerable promise.
