Oatmeal, pineapple, bitter apple, lemon, light body – very much on the lean side of Chardonnay – stylish, tight, and maybe a bit frowny overall. (RH)

The 2019 Art of Chardonnay was matured in 60% new oak. It has a vivid bouquet of mineral-rich tropical fruit, passion fruit and orange zest, and a very slight reduction that works a treat. The palate is extremely well balanced, exuding poise and livewire tension, with lovely orange pith and tangerine-infused citrus fruit, a silver bead of acidity and wonderful nerve on the finish. This is an outstanding Chardonnay that does not put a foot wrong.
