70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay . Pale orange with a pink tinge. Lots of maturity on the nose – arguably the oldest wine in this entire range aromatically. Sweet almond paste on the nose and then rescued by the acidity of 1996 – but again in terms of texture it’s a bit chewy and not one of the most sophisticated. Broad and fun with a bit of rose petals. Clean and satisfying. A slightly bitter note on the end. (JR)

Dried rose petal, leather, anise and dried cherries are all laced together in the 1996 Comtes de Champagne Rosé. Subtle, pretty and highly nuanced, the 1996 is in the early part of its drinking window. Within the context of the year, the 1996 is relatively soft and accessible. It is best enjoyed over the next few years.

Pale orange-pink. Knockout nose combines wild strawberry, blood orange, minerals and earth, along with a whiff of maple syrup. Wonderfully intense and penetrating, with concentrated flavors of strawberry tart and toast shaped by vibrant acidity and mineral spine. Unusually serious, structured rose from a great vintage. But it also boasts fabulous fruit.
