The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is very floral on the nose with wilted rose petals, freshly tilled loamy soil, almost dominating the red fruit. The palate is elegant and refined, built around the fine tannins, very cohesive and poised, building in the mouth towards a lightly spiced, yet strict finish. It will deserve 4-5 years in bottle, but it should evolve nicely over 20 years plus.

The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a tightly-wound nose that took time to open in the glass, touches of crushed rock filtering through the redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit. The palate is smooth and sensual, more density and sinew than the Echezeaux and a touch more salinity and energy on the finish. This should age well, but deserves three to four years in bottle.
A pretty ruby colour, not too deep. A most elegant and floral bouquet, not especially typical of the appellation, but very attractive. A little barrel toast. Good acidity to back the volume of lush fruit, this has length and class and will require a little time.

Today run by the fourth-generation Nicole Lamarche, this property (previously known as Domaine François Lamarche) is firmly among the best in Burgundy. The Vosne-Romanée estate is most famous for its monopole Grand Cru La Grande Rue.
