The 2019 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a succinct nose, tightly wound at first, gradually opening with sea spray and light malic scents. The nose shows impressive clarity and focus. The palate is balanced with a crisp bead of acidity. The 2019 is elegant in style, nothing ostentatious or brash, yet cohesive with a fine mineral spine on the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a nicely composed bouquet that displays fine tension and poise, touches of white peach and crushed rock filtering through the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and quite saline in the mouth. The sapid finish begs for another sip. This is a well-crafted, classic Chablis.
