Tasting notes
The Mediterranean 2016 The Blend Collection Red is 45% Garnacha, 30% Monastrell and 25% Syrah, a slightly different blend from the previous vintage, when they also used some Cariñena, so this time it is 100% from Aconcagua Costa. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in oak foudres and used barriques for 20 months. It's a perfumed red, with elegant aromatics, flowers, herbs and spices nicely intermixed. The palate is clean and dry, with some chalky tannins. It's aromatic and intense, with a lifted nose. They have now removed the Carignan from the blend, and it's produced exclusively with estate grapes. 14,062 bottles were filled in January 2018. This should evolve nicely in bottle and develop further nuances as years go by. This is very restrained for Mediterranean grapes, with only 13.5% alcohol.
