Tasting notes
The 2020 Tour St. Bonnet has a straightforward nose with raspberry and crushed strawberry scents, just missing a little vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine bead of acidity and gentle grip. It cuts away a bit short on the finish, but otherwise this will do nicely.

Old school unfussy Médoc character; no need to wait too long and in fact almost certain best enjoyed over next decade. Expect dark fruits, liqourice, earthy character and solid tannic heft. Four generations of the Merlet family at this estate.
Cru bourgeois. 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon on Quaternary Garonne gravel. Yield: 42 hl/ha. Aged for 12 to 15 months. 636,000 bottles. Mid crimson. Some attractively leafy lift to the perfume. I wonder whether these grapes were picked a bit earlier than most? Though the palate is quite sweet and the tannins light. Just a little light overall… (JR)
