Score 93/100 · Drink 2021-2025, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Apr 2021

The surviving Chardonnay grapes from the domaine vineyards went to produce a one-off 2017 Les Survivants, a cuvée produced with the few grapes they picked after the frost of 2017. It was vinified and bottled without added sulfur after three years in oak demi-muids. It's quite shy and has some unusual toasty notes, quite simple at first sight but with a more substantial palate, where the wine has moderate alcohol (13%) and good acidity. It does not reach the complexity of the single-vineyard bottlings, but it's balanced and shows the Ganevat style in a more straightforward way.
