Same as with the Chardonnay, all the Savagnin grapes they were able to pick after the terrible frost of 2017 went toward producing a single wine, the 2017 Les Rescapés. This wine has a metallic undertone, a sea-infused note and some Savagnin character with a nicely textured Ganevat signature. It's full-bodied at 13.7% alcohol, round and with balancing acidity. It matured in used oak barrels for three years and was bottled unfiltered and without any added sulfites, yet the wine feels fresh, clean and quite focused. It has a marine and saline finish with an umami-like character. Very good for the adverse conditions of the year.
