Tasting notes
The 2018 Bastide Miraflors has a lovely nose, with loads of red and black berry fruit turning into pronounced black cherry, peppery spice, petrichor, cola and dried Mediterranean herbs. Really very elegant and classy, with the upfront fruit giving way to subtle and complex aromas that keep changing and giving more from the glass. On the palate it is perfectly composed and well-judged with superb concentration and purity of fruit, enveloped by fine grained, satiny tannins that extend into a very satisfying, smooth and chocolaty yet fresh finish. This is an absolute winner for the money that will give great drinking pleasure from the get go.

Based on 74% Syrah and 26% Grenache brought up in in a combination of concrete tanks (for the Grenache) and one year old demi-muids (for the Syrah), the 2018 Cotes Du Roussillon Bastide Miraflors is a knockout bottle of wine. It offers loads of black fruits, roasted herbs, peppered meat, violets, and bacon fat as well as full-bodied richness, a round, opulent style, ripe tannins, and a blockbuster finish. It’s one of the finest values out there. Drink 2021-2026.
