Score 83/100 · Drink 2020-2023, Neal Martin, Sep 2020

The 2018 Chablis Vau Ligneau 1er Cru comes from 44-year-old double-Guyot-pruned vines with 6 months on the fine lees. It has quite an intense floral nose, touches of lavender infusing the malic fruit, and grapefruit emerging with aeration, but showing just a little dilution. The palate is straightforward and lacks real bite. It feels like a wine that was overcropped, diluting intensity of flavor.
