Aromas of cherries, sweet soil tones, dark chocolate and woodsmoke introduce the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vignes Rondes, a medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping wine that's round and gourmand, with lively acids and melting tannins cloaked in an ample core of fruit. As usual, it's the most giving and immediate of the Mugneret family's premiers crus.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vignes Rondes 1er Cru comes from a parcel purchased in 1981 that is handicapped with the 161-49 rootstock, which tends to degenerate, causing the vines to grow like bonsai, smaller and smaller in size. It has a fine mineral-driven bouquet of black plum and raspberry fruit plus hints of black truffle. The medium-bodied palate presents supple tannins, dark cherries and blackberry fruit with touches of sous-bois and gentle grip on the finish. An elegant Nuits Saint-Georges.
