Pithy, waxy nose that suggests a little skin contact? Or perhaps lees – there is good substance here. Melon and baked apple on the palate. Dry and spicy on the finish. Great sophistication. (RH)

A tight and very balanced white with sliced-apple, lemon and pear character. Hints of toasted oak. Medium to full body. Reserved and very linear and lightly phenolic. Beautiful finish. Drink or hold.

About the producer

Bass Phillip
Bass Phillip has been quietly making world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Leongatha, South Gippsland, since the 1990s. The estate’s wines were long sold almost exclusively in Australia, meaning that the producer remains relatively little-known beyond its native shores.
