Brilliant red. A hugely perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red fruits, star anise, incense and potpourri, along with a smoky mineral overtone. Juicy, lithe and sharply defined on the palate, offering alluringly sweet, mineral- and spice-driven raspberry, cherry cola, candied rose and blood orange flavors that deepen steadily with air while maintaining urgency. Conveys a seductive blend of power and finesse and finishes extremely long and precise, with harmonious tannins and reverberating floral, spice and red fruit notes.

Like all of the Pinots at Bass Phillip, the 2018 Reserve Pinot Noir is relatively light in color, unfiltered and cloudy in the glass. Delicately scented of raspberries and cherries, with hints of herbs, vanilla and earth, it's the most voluminous of the bottlings, showing more roundness and concentration in the mouth, allied to silky, berry herbal-tea textural complexities and admirable persistence on the finish.

About the producer

Bass Phillip
Bass Phillip

Bass Phillip has been quietly making world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Leongatha, South Gippsland, since the 1990s. The estate’s wines were long sold almost exclusively in Australia, meaning that the producer remains relatively little-known beyond its native shores.
