Tasting notes
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru comes from just over half a hectare of vines. Pretty red cherries and cassis fruit furnish the nose, which is well defined and demonstrates more intensity than the Village Cru. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy, with supple tannins, good acidity and a dash of white pepper and bay leaf toward the finish. Again, probably an earlier-drinking Les Chaumes compared to others, but it has elegance and charm.

Very pretty mid red of no great depth, doesn’t need to be. The nose shows a little elegant red fruit, but is not really au rendez-vous. Then there is an impressive depth of fruit, right from the start of the palate, a few orange zest notes in with raspberry and strawberry, very long, sensual finish. Another Chaumes success for Nicole Lamarche. Barrel Sample: 91-94
