Tasting notes
A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 4% Petite Sirah, 2% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a dark red-berried frame and offers an open-knit and juicy expression of dark cherry and blackberry on the nose with hints of wood and subtle aromas of purple flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is straightforward and shows a balanced structure, ending with an uncomplicated finish. Just under 50,000 bottles were filled.

Hand-picked and fermented in small batches with ambient yeast then aged for 20 months in small French oak barrels, 8,299 cases produced. Mid to dark crimson. Toasty, ripe, fresh, frank Cabernet nose. Lots of pure blackcurrant fruit here with some fine tannin in evidence so there is clearly a future for this wine. No negatives except that it is not exactly distinctive – but that is the comment of a world-weary professional wine taster. Aslina's Cabernet seems a little more subtle. (JR)
