FINE+RARE Tasting Note

Beautiful aromas - dried rose and hawtharon bush - very lifted and fragrant. Impressive deep colour with distinctly silky tannins compared with sister winery d'Armailhac. Lovely weight/ concentration on the mid palate. Refined, elegant tannins, deceptive in their density and finesse. Lovely expansive finish with long length and a pulse of energy.

Good depth, with aromas of dark berries, ink, cassis and touches of licorice and cloves. Almost full-bodied but also juicy and textured, with tight, fine-grained tannins and a long finish. 72% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot, 4% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Drink from 2027. From a vertical tasting at the chateau.

The 2019 Clerc-Milon has a relatively light bouquet, although it does build in the glass, with red berry fruit, mixed herbs and leather. The palate is medium-bodied with a pliant and harmonious opening. Smooth in texture and with fine acidity, this has one of the more sensual and refined finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

Tasted blind. Deep crimson. Low-key, saline fruit. Very gentle, without much definition or excitement, but with a distinctive green note. (JR)
