Tasting Notes
The 2018 La Part des Anges is unique with its high percentage of Mourvèdre (70%), alongside 20% Grenache and 10% Syrah. The nose is expansive, packed with ripe blackberries, dark cherries and lifted by some herbal and spicy notes. This is a modern style rather than traditional, expressive and medium to full-bodied, the fine tannins and crunchy dark berry fruit well-integrated. The Mourvèdre brings elegant acidity with greener flavours and balance, while the Grenache adds umami and the Syrah contributes spice to the ensemble. The finish is long, precise and develops even more after a few seconds. It is an absolute pleasure to drink after decanting and will benefit five to 10 years’ cellaring to reach its full potential.
