The 2018 Chardonnay En Billat has only 13.5% alcohol, something remarkable for a very warm year like 2018. It matured 50% in amphora and 50% in demi-muid for four years. It feels very fresh, lively and sharp, very vibrant and full of energy, with a salty finish. I find this to be an incredible En Billat, a Chardonnay from schist and marl soils that shows lots of citrus and feels young, and the time in barrel has not provoked any oxidation in the wine. Incredible juice!

Tasted as a sample, the 2018 Côtes du Jura Pinot Noir En Billat comes from a very good terroir and shows superb finesse, lots of energy, very good balance and great length. He considers this one of the best years for this bottling, and this reflects his idea of 2018 being a great year for reds.
