Tasting notes
Bursting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, smoked meats, licorice and cassis, the 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbé is medium to full-bodied, rich and nicely concentrated, built around powdery tannins and concluding with a long, sapid finish. Ripe and heady, I don't think this will match the 2017, 2016 or 2015 renditions, but it's a nice wine.

Savoury red cherry, spice and stones on the palate just about balance the firm, peppery tannins. This sample has a volatile note suggesting it isn’t in perfect condition, so probably best not to score this. (TJ)
About the producer

The wines of Henri & Philippe Jouan fly under the radar – and, with the current quantities produced (from just three hectares of vines), this is unlikely to change any time soon.
