The 2018 Chablis Monts des Milieu 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with yellow fruit and crushed stone emerging with time. The palate is balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh with appreciable salinity towards the finish. This is turning into a fine Chablis, though not one that I would cellar long-term. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

The 2018 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru offers fresh green apples, pear and light tropical notes on a nose that demands encouragement from the glass. The palate is well balanced, with a soft, slightly smudged opening. The acidity needs to be a little higher here, and the finish is quite "fat" and missing the drive and delineation of the domaine’s superior cuvées in 2018. Not bad, but I would broach this sooner than the better contributions to the vintage.

The 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu is one of the more muscular premiers crus in the range, offering up aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, citrus confit, wet stones, white flowers and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly fleshy and textural, with a generous core of fruit underpinned by fine cut and chalky extract, it has turned out well.
