Tasting notes
The 2017 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru is an exceptionally beautiful wine endowed with tremendous length and pure power. Lemon confit, dried flowers and mint are some of the many notes that build in the glass. Textured and resonant through to the finish, with captivating beauty and tons of sheer allure, the Vaillons is so gorgeous. Frankly, it is hard to move on from it in this tasting.

Confirming its promise from barrel, the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons bursts from the glass with notes of fresh peach, citrus blossom, green orchard fruit, beeswax and almond paste. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with a broad, textural attack, lively acids and excellent concentration. While it's one of the more expressive wines in the range it will reward some bottle age.
The 2017 Chablis Les Vaillons 1er Cru has a flattering bouquet with white flower scents merging with citrus peel and light honeysuckle aromas. I adore the way in which this gains intensity with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, clean and precise, full of tension with a pixelated finish that lingers for 45 seconds. Possibly the best Vaillons of the vintage.
A great location in the center of the cru. This has a more mineral nose with a stony, flinty edge with gentle herbs and lemon and grapefruit citrus. The palate has a very succulent taut core of tangy peaches and green mangoes. Very powerful, long, energetic palate here. A fresh almond finish. Drink or hold.
