The 1930 Rivesaltes from Sisqueille is the oldest vintage unless you go right back to the 1874 that I tasted a couple of years ago. The 1930 was bottled in 2011. It has more richness on the nose than I was expecting, with bay leaf, clove, quince and a touch of rosewater, beautifully defined if not quite as profound as the 1941. The palate is viscous on the entry with fine acidity, a tang of marmalade and quince, cloves and Chinese five-spice, although I think with age it has lost a little persistence on the finish. Still, this is very fine. Tasted June 2017.

Bottled 2011. Grenache Noir. Tawny and lively. Fresh and dried fruit peel. Very vibrant and fun. Really racy and good. (JR)
