Tasting notes
I’ve had concerns with this estate with some of the more recent releases, but if the 2016 Les Calcinaires is any indication, they appear to have returned to making brilliant wines. Tasting like a top-quality Côte Rôtie with its violets, pepper, obvious minerality, and assorted darker fruits, it’s medium-bodied, with polished tannins, terrific purity and a great finish. It’s going to keep for a decade.

An intriguing, vat-aged blend of 50% Muscat, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Macabeu, Gauby's 2016 IGP Cotes Catalanes Blanc les Calcinaires offers aromas of spiced mandarins, peach and apple skin. It's medium-bodied, with ample concentration and presence on the palate, and a refreshing finish.
