The bright color and the nose of the 2015 Les Chalasses Marnes Bleues was simply incredible. It is a pure Savagnin vert strain of the variety planted in 1933 on blue marl (marnes bleues) soils that name the cuvée along with the name of the vineyard (Les Chalasses). The nose was an explosion of magnolias and white fruit. The palate was round, lush and mineral but with an austere texture and very tasty flavors. I cannot start to imagine what the Les Vignes de Mon Père, often based on this cuvée (and sometimes part of the cuvée Champs Bernard), is going to be around 2026 when it should be released if everything goes according to plan...
