Once popped and poured, the 2016 Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Lias felt a bit reductive but soon opened up in the glass. It has quite a Burgundian profile, including a little bit of oak that I didn't expect, but it's not really a bother. It comes from three different clay and limestone soils, aged in topped-up 228-liter oak barrels for 17 months. It was bottled in August 2018 with very low levels of sulfur.
