Tasting notes
Vivid yellow-gold. Ripe orange, pear, honeysuckle and a hint of toasty lees on the highly perfumed nose. Pliant, mineral-laced orchard and pit fruit flavors show very good depth and ripeness and pick up a smoky nuance in the glass. Finishes broad and seamless, displaying strong cling and a lingering suggestion of Meyer lemon.

One of the top traditional whites out there is easily the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc from Chateau de Vaudieu. Made from a 60/40 split of Roussanne and Grenache, vinified and aged partially in barrels, it has terrific notes of juicy peach, white flowers and citrus blossom as well as medium to full-bodied richness, solid mid-palate depth and a kiss of honeysuckle on the finish. Drink this beautifully pure, balanced white anytime over the coming decade or more
