Tasting notes
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon starts with tones of oak and earth with a black fruit core. The full-bodied palate is dense and chewy, filled with blackberry, dark cherry and plum and expressing soft oak notes of vanilla and nutmeg. It is precise and grippy with spicy focus, giving hints of cedar and graphite, with a lingering, concentrated finish.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 18 months in 50% new and 50% second-fill oak. It has a lifted, intense bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, briar, cedar and light tobacco scents. A subtle marine influence lends complexity. The palate is clean and fresh on the entry, offering graphite-tinged black fruit, much better weight in the mouth than the 2015 "Red," and gentle grip on the finish. This is an impressive Cabernet from Meerlust that should age with style.
