Tasting notes
95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 28 months in French oak (14% new). Unfined. Strong oak influence here – sawdust and clove scent. Blackcurrant candy and a long, graphite-edged persistence. Fine-grained but accessible tannin. Still very youthful overall. Zen-like patience required! (RH)

Shimmering ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet features smoke- and spice-accented cassis, cherry-vanilla and tobacco scents, and a floral note builds with air. Sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering sappy red and dark berry, candied rose and succulent herb flavors that deepen steadily with aeration. Shows impressive delicacy for its power, finishing very long and spicy, with repeating florality and polished tannins lending gentle grip.
Rather strong glue character on the nose, seeming to suggest a bit of VA? Sourness to finish too, making this rather gawky. It is incredibly concentrated too – perhaps it just needs more time? (RH)
Wilyabrup is proudly written on the front label. Very distinctive damp upholstery webbing nose and menthol fruit with quite a bit tannin. Just a little scrawny rather than sumptuous. But its certainly correct and claret-like without any excess alcohol. But for the moment it's really a bit too raw and embryonic. (JR)
