The 2013 Champagne Blanc de Noirs Empriente Noire is even more impressive, with notes of cherry confit and fresh citrus oil. It’s profound and fills the senses with its mineral coating on the back of the palate, accompanied by delicate toasted pastry and graham spices. It’s full but with a pillow-like mouthfeel and a mineral power supporting it. I imagine as it opens, its umami depth will emerge. It’s bright and long. Drink 2025-2050. The Rodez family first set down roots in Champagne in 1757, and while they have not always been winemakers, they have always respected the land and the vines. They bottle roughly 55,000 bottles every year.
