Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot, which was bottled under DIAM, has a composed bouquet that opens nicely in the glass, revealing scents of apricot blossom, beeswax and peach skin. The palate is well balanced with fine definition on the entry, very linear and focused yet it does not fan out or deliver that something extra on the second half, as if all its ideas were expended at the beginning. Tasted May 2016.

Scented with stony citrus and a hint of blossom. Great energy and freshness leading to a long, lively finish. Accomplished and long with a minerally, almost salty aftertaste. (JH)
