Score 88/100 · Drink 2019-2022, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Oct 2019

Made with organically farmed fruit, this is a blend of mostly Sangiovese with smaller parts Sagrantino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The 2016 Montefalco Rosso Tenuta Castelbuono Ziggurat is a fresh red wine with blackberry, wild cherry and plum. There are subtle notes of tar and spicy tobacco at the back. Pair this balanced red with Italian sausage grilled with onions and bell peppers.
