Tasting notes
The 2017 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru has a potent and slightly smudged bouquet, a mixture of yellow plum and egg whites, gaining just a little delineation and turning creamier with aeration. The well-balanced palate offers tangerine peel, nectarine and a touch of honeycomb, though it needs more precision and feels a bit worked on the finish. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

Another highlight in this range, the 2017 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru sizzles with real tension and energy. The Mont de Milieu is not quite as expressive as some of the other wines in the range, but that won't be an issue in time. Dried pear, crushed rocks, mint and dried flowers all come alive in a Chablis endowed with terrific verve and plenty of stylishness. I loved it.
The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu is somewhat clipped and oak-inflected, and while it's inoffensive, it's hard to actively recommend.
