60% whole bunch, 50% new oak. Cask sample. Mint, nettle, cherry liqueur, firm but powdery tannin and a long, powerful persistence on the finish. Lovely tar and liquorice character adding complexity to the generous finish. Excellent. (RH)

The 2017 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru matures in 50% new oak with 60% whole bunches from 45-year old vines that are Cordon pruned, although they are introducing some Guyot simple . It has a precocious bouquet with macerated dark cherries, blackcurrant and spicebox. The palate is dense and rather introverted. Perhaps here I would have liked just a little more delineation for it seems rather "blocky" and heavy on the finish. Afford this 5 to 7 years in bottle - hopefully it will lighten up.
