Score 90.5/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jul 2019
The 2017 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is the most powerful and overt of the Grand Crus in this range. A rush of inky dark fruit, graphite, lavender, sage, licorice and menthol makes a strong opening statement. Today, the Bèze comes across as a bit rough around the edges and not fully put together, but very much in the mid-weight style that is typical of the year. My impression is that it just needs time in barrel to sort itself out.
