Tasting notes
The 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from St Préfert is showing so beautifully right now. Packed full of red and black fruit, sweet liquorice and a new glossy milk chocolate character, it is in that lovely just resolved stage: still fresh and juicy, but with a glossy, easy flair and beautiful pixelated tannins, bright acidity and cool stony character. The aromas are complex and layered, with herbs and smoke intermingling with the sweet balsamic fruit. Medium-bodied and fresh, but with impeccable structure and depth, this is one to relish now or keep in the cellar for future enjoyment.

Dark ruby. Spice- and herb-accented red and blue fruit and floral scents show fine clarity and minerally lift. Sappy raspberry and boysenberry flavors smoothly blend depth and energy and show no rough edges. The floral and spice notes drive a persistent finish that features smooth tannins and a strong whiplash of juicy red fruit.
Deep shimmering ruby-red. Highly perfumed raspberry and cherry liqueur aromas are accompanied by potpourri and baking spice nuances, and a smoky mineral flourish builds in the glass. Juicy and appealingly sweet, displaying red and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors and a smooth, seamless texture. Deftly balances richness and vivacity and finishes long and spicy, with smooth, harmonious tannins and a subtle echo of candied flowers.
